In Your Orbit (2024)

A relationship-building game set on Mars.

You've just been evicted from your apartment and have to spend the next 2 weeks figuring out your living situation.

Main Scriptwriter, Main Editor, Mars worldbuilding, Assistant Programmer

This game was made in Renpy using Python. It is a response to my Decolonial Game Design class. Using space and planets as references to real-life cultures, we created a game to discuss themes of capitalism, racism, immigration, and other character-specific narratives.

I was responsible for creating the outline of the game's mechanics, the overall story, and the worldbuilding for Mars. The setting is on Mars because we currently believe it to be the most habitable planet in our solar system, which is meant to be a metaphor for how the United States is seen as an ideal place to immigrate to. The game centers on the dynamics and connections the player makes with people from other planets that have corresponding cultures or societal issues that each contributor wanted to discuss in the game. I wanted to balance the necessity of working to live and the need for connection to live meaningfully.
